Project Homeless Connect Omaha's Next Event Has Been Cancelled

Officials with Project Homeless Connect Omaha and Creighton University regret to announce that this year’s event, scheduled for March 27 at Creighton’s Kiewit Fitness Center, has been canceled due to concerns around the health and wellbeing of participants and volunteers in the wake of the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

In reviewing information provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the health department and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)— and to minimize the risk of exposure within the homeless community – Angels Share, Inc., Creighton and its partners, including Metro Area Continuum of Care for the Homeless (MACCH) and the Siena/Francis House, have determined that it is in the best interest of a vulnerable population to cancel Project Homeless Connect Omaha (PHCO) 2020.

PHCO has always aimed to promote the health and wellbeing of individuals experiencing homelessness in our community. Officials are concerned that this year’s event has the potential to bring the risk of the coronavirus to the guests experiencing homelessness, who are known to be at higher risk for health issues. This concern over exposure to the virus has led to the cancellation of other Project Homeless Connect events nationally.
